John Cena Confirms There Will Be "No Fall Downs" In WWE

John Cena has confirmed that there will be no bumps/fall downs now that his in-ring career has come to an end.

Although the 17-time World Champion brought his pro wrestling career to a definitive end in December 2025, some fans have not been convinced. With wrestling retirements not being known to stick, there has been speculation that Cena could come back for one more match.

The other claim from Cena that many struggle to believe is that he will never do anything physical inside a WWE ring again. As has been seen from the likes of Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin when they retired, the legends are no strangers to hitting a finisher on a heel to pop the crowd. However, when it comes to Cena, the Hollywood star has promised that there will be no impromptu AA’s.

“No Fall Downs And Nothing Physical” For John Cena

While speaking with Zack Heydorn of Sports Illustrated, Cena stated that anything physical is strictly off the table. However, Cena did note that he plans to still make regular appearances in WWE moving forward:

“This was the confusing thing about retirement. First of all, I will stay retired — no fall downs. I will not do anything physical. But that doesn’t mean I’m away from WWE. I mean, anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about not only the sports entertainment business but WWE as a brand. So it was simply a matter of like, ‘So where do I fit in now?’ And we’re still trying to find out those pieces, but I think we got a clear path.”

Cena’s first post-retirement took place at WrestleMania 42, which saw the legend host the event. Although night 2 saw things get physical between The Miz, Kit Wilson and Danhausen, Cena did not get involved.

Appearing once more at Backlash, Cena announced that The John Cena Classic would debut soon. The tournament will see stars battle it out from all 3 brands, with the fans deciding who will be the winner and inaugural John Cena Champion.

Following the announcement, more details on the concept have since been provided.
