Jeff Hardy Fast Approaching End Of AEW Contract [Update]

Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy looks set to be the latest AEW star to become a free agent.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Hardy is set to become a free agent on Friday, June 14th as a new contract has not been signed. There was a belief that injury time was going to be added to Hardy’s deal but this appears to not be the case.

Back in April, Jeff’s brother Matt Hardy elected to not re-sign with the promotion and became a free agent. Since then, Matt has made multiple appearances in TNA and has teased a WWE return on numerous occasions, which may be a possibility more than ever before given the working relationship between the two sides. With his brother a regular fixture on TNA programming, a reunion of The Hardys is something that TNA are very interested in and very much a possibility given their history together.

Hardy last wrestled in February 2024 on an episode of Rampage. Hardy was struck in the head by opponent Sammy Guevara’s knee following a shooting star press and was suspected to have suffered a concussion in the process. Guevara was suspended and Hardy thankfully only suffered a broken nose in the match. Although Hardy is cleared to compete, he did not make any further appearances. Both Matt and Jeff have been vocal on numerous occasions about their lack of TV time on AEW programming.

In a further update by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Hardy is expected to appear at TNA at the Against All Odds pay-per-view on June 14th and/or the Impact tapings the next day.

Jeff Hardy In AEW

Originally signing in March 2022, Hardy came to the aid of his brother after being released by WWE following an incident that took place at a house show the previous year that saw Hardy make his way to the back through the crowd immediately after his match was over. In June 2022, Jeff Hardy was arrested for a DUI and sent to rehab. Hardy was used sparingly upon his return and predominantly in multi-man matches. Neither Matt nor Jeff won any championships while signed to AEW.
