Jade Cargill Opens Up On Gruesome SmackDown Injury: “I Didn’t Know It Was That Bad Until The Crowd Reacted”

Jade Cargill has looked back on the night she suffered a brutal looking injury on an episode of WWE SmackDown.

Jade Cargill has recalled the night she suffered a gruesome injury in the main event of WWE SmackDown.

On the September 26 edition of the show, Cargill was in a triple threat match with then Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and fellow challenger Nia Jax, with Stratton’s title on the line. Unfortunately, the match is now best remembered for two things: the botch that saw Jax fail to kick out, which forced the referee to stop her count, and Cargill being sent headfirst into the steel steps.

Blood was seen at the ringside area immediately after as Cargill suffered a deep cut just above her eye. However, according to the new Women’s Champion, she was unaware of the severity at that point.

Speaking with WYFF News, Cargill first stated that it wasn’t until the crowd reacted that she realised how bad the cut looked:

“I didn’t feel it. I think it was so much adrenaline going through my body. I didn’t know it was that bad until I was like looking in the camera talking and in unison, the entire arena said, ‘oh!’ and I was like, ‘okay, this must be bad.’”

Continuing, the SmackDown star added the referee’s reaction, but was determined to continue:

“Then, as I’m still talking out of my peripheral, I’m seeing all the women turn around and they’re like disgusted because I was going to get on the announcer’s table and like beat my chest and go crazy, and when I seen that, I said, ‘Okay, this must be really bad.’ Then our ref, Aja passed by and said, ‘you are bleeding like crazy.’ I said, ‘Okay, this is terrible.’ But you know, in our sport, you gotta keep going.”

Jade Cargill Now On Top Of SmackDown Women’s Division

In what was a rematch from SummerSlam, Cargill defeated Stratton on the November 1 Saturday Night’s Main Event special to win the title for the first time in her career. Cargill defeated Stratton in dominant fashion, hitting multiple Powerbombs and the Jaded finisher to win the match. On the next episode of the show, Cargill put the roster on notice before having a staredown with Charlotte Flair, teasing a future matchup between the two.
