Jack Perry has achieved his dream.
Perry has stated repeatedly that despite being a former AEW Tag Team Champion, it is not enough. The former “Jungle Boy” would not be happy until he won a singles title.
Failing to capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door, Perry turned on former friend and FTW Champion HOOK. Following Perry running from HOOK on multiple occasions, the title match was set for the July 19th episode of Dynamite.
Tarzan Boy began to play in the Boston Arena, but faded out to play a video package of Jack Perry in the desert. The video showed Perry seemingly burying the Jungle Boy Character, before coming out to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.
The match itself saw Perry try to jump HOOK from the outset, but the firmer FTW Champion evaded.
The match ended with a ref bump that saw HOOK get a visual pin on Perry, but the referee was unconscious. HOOK was then struck by the title by Perry, who pinned HOOK to win the match and the championship.
