Nick Hogan, the son of the late Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, has commented on the likelihood that a biopic on his father will be produced.
Hulk Hogan has once again become a notable talking point in the wrestling world following the release of the Real American docuseries on Netflix. Along with telling the life story, successes and scandals of the WWE icon, the show also features Hogan’s final interview before his death in 2025.
Back in 2019, there were rumblings that a Hogan biopic was in the initial stages, which would have had Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth play the role of Terry Bollea. However, while speaking with Chris Van Vliet in a 2023 interview, The Hulkster claimed that a “business glitch” meant that the project had been shelved indefinitely:
“Yes, I do [have an update]. So it was a situation where business-wise, Netflix kind of like missed the date, you know, as far as a business situation. And so I had the choice at that time to switch gears. Scott Silver wrote the script, you know, he wrote The Joker and a bunch of different movies. And of course, Todd Phillips has done the Joker Wolf of Wall Street and you know, whatever. All the crazy stuff that he did. But yeah, the script came back. It was amazing. I mean, because my favorite movies are like Scarface, The Godfather, True Romance, it was there, it was there. And I just thought, Whoa, but all of a sudden there was a business glitch, you know, and then they tried to fix it a few days later. And I’d already decided to move on. So, my life rights and stuff are somewhere else now. And there are a lot of things that are getting ready to happen. And hopefully, Todd Phillips and Chris Hemsworth will still want to play. But there’s still a huge opportunity there.”
Nick Hogan Still Believes There Is “Absolutely Potential” For A Hulk Hogan Biopic
Nick Hogan appeared as a guest on Eric Bischoff’s 83 Weeks podcast following the release of the docuseries, which features both men as talking heads. Nick stated that the film would still be a possibility, adding that he is a big fan of Hemsworth’s work:
“I definitely think there is potential for that. I think there is absolutely potential. When all that talk was happening with Chris Hemsworth, I thought that was cool because I’m a huge Chris Hemsworth fan. I love the Thor movies and all his projects. He’s an excellent actor. His physique and the way he looks, he would play a great Hulk Hogan. That would be really cool.”
Nick also said that he would still want to see the movie made if Chris Hemsworth is unable to be a part of it.
No stranger to starring in biopics, Chris Hemsworth played the role of F1 driver James Hunt in the 2013 movie Rush, which is based on Hunt’s 1976 championship-winning season.
