Gunther has to survive one more match on September 4th to break the all-time record for a singular Intercontinental Championship reign.
The Ring General is fast approaching the 454 reign currently held by The Honky Tonk man, and this will be broken providing Gunther walks out of Raw as champion on the first episode of Raw in September.
The issue is that the Intercontinental Champion’s opponent is somebody who has already defeated him on the main roster, Chad Gable. The American Alpha member faced Gunther with the title on the line on August 21st. Gable would win the match via count-out, meaning that the leader of Imperium remained the champion. Will Chad Gable realise his dream on Raw?
The current line-up for Raw is as follows:
- Gunther (c) vs. Chad Gable – Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship. If Gunther wins he will set the all-time record for a singular reign with the IC Title
- The Viking Raiders vs. Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle – Tornado tag team match
