The Ring General and The Scottish Warrior will collide on August 5th.
As announced on the July 24th episode of WWE Raw, Intercontinental Champion Gunther will put the title on the line against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam.
The champion and challenger met face-to-face in the ring, where McIntyre initially stated that he didn’t want to wait until Detroit, instead wanting the match on Raw. Gunther at first refused, stating the multiple failures of the former WWE Champion. However, the counter offer was made for a match at SummerSlam.
After the challenge was accepted, McIntyre took on Ludwig Kaiser, defeating the Imperium member. After the match, McIntyre turned his attention to Gunther, powerbombing the Intercontinental Champion through the announce table.
The updated line-up for SummerSlam is as follows:
- Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
- Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor – Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship
- Asuka (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair – Triple Threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso – Tribal Combat. The winner will be the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and be recognised at The Tribal Chief
- Ricochet vs. Logan Paul
- Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre – Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship
