Gable Steveson Fails To Make Buffalo Bills NFL Roster

Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson will not be playing for the Buffalo Bills in the 2024/2025 season.

With the upcoming NFL season just a few weeks away, the Buffalo Bills have reduced their squad down to 53 players, with the former WWE star not making the cut. NFL insider Mike Garafolo posted the following on social media regarding the update, adding that Steveson would be placed on the practice squad:

The #Bills are waiving DL Gable Steveson, source says. Former wrestler is a developmental prospect so this won’t be the end of the line for him, whether in Buffalo as a member of the practice squad or elsewhere.

Much like Brock Lesnar, Steveson found success in the amateur wrestling and professional wrestling realms before attempting to make it in the NFL before ultimately falling short.

Gable Steveson Released By WWE

After winning gold at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Men’s freestyle 125 kilograms event, Steveson was later signed to WWE. Being the second Olympic Gold medal winner to make the transition to WWE, many compared Steveson’s path to Kurt Angle. However, unlike Angle who won multiple World Championships, was inducted into the Hall of Fame and is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Steveson was not seen in the same way. Having one televised match against Baron Corbin that was very underwhelming, Steveson was relegated to dark matches on SmackDown.

In May 2024, Gable Steveson was released by WWE.
