AEW star Swerve Strickland has undergone successful surgery and is on the road to recovery.
On August 27, the former World Champion posted an update via Instagram story that saw his knee wrapped in a bandage with the caption “success.” Strickland was written off TV following his last match at Forbidden Door, which saw the former World Champion lose to Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada. After the match, a returning Wardlow attacked Strickland and sided with The Don Callis Family, meaning that the faction has grown even further in numbers with the latest addition.
Prior to the show, news broke that Strickland had been dealing with a torn meniscus since 2019. While the AEW star has been continuing to compete full-time since his arrival in All Elite Wrestling in 2022, the injury has been recently worked into storylines, with Wardlow targeting the knee with his shock return.
Swerve Strickland Off AEW TV For Foreseeable Future
There has been no indication as to when Strickland will be making his return to TV following the surgery, but is expected to be out for months. Arguably one of the biggest success stories since leaving WWE, Strickland is a former World and Tag Team Champion and is frequently presented as one of the promotion’s top stars. At All In 2024, Strickland competed in the main event, losing the title to Bryan Danielson.
Along with Strickland being out of action until further notice, Will Ospreay is also set to undergo surgery and will be on an extended hiatus away from the ring.
Features of Wrestling would like to wish Swerve Strickland all the best as he begins his road to recovery.
