The first match has been officially announced for the returning WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special on December 14th.
Following their issues over the past few weeks, Cody Rhodes will put the Undisputed Championship on the line against Kevin Owens for the second time in 2024. Rhodes first put the title on the line against Owens back at Bash In Berlin, retaining the championship when Owens was unable to pull the trigger and capitalise on Rhodes while he was down to deliver the final blow. Since then, Owens has targeted Rhodes and Randy Orton with multiple attacks backstage. Additionally, Kevin Owens delivered a sickening Piledriver to Randy Orton to write the 14-time WWE Champion off of TV until further notice.
Owens has been suspended and continually silenced but will finally get his opportunity at Rhodes once more. For Rhodes, The American Nightmare gets the opportunity to avenge Randy Orton and get some much needed retribution on KO.
Saturday Night’s Main event is a long-running special that first aired back in 1985. The show was revived in 2006 and ran until 2008. As part of the new deal between the USA Network and WWE to broadcast SmackDown, the signature show will be returning in December and will air live from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, the site of the first ever show.
