Drew McIntyre Explains WWE Absence

Drew McIntyre has given more insight into his 2 month absence from WWE Raw.

Drew McIntyre has further elaborated on why he has been away from WWE for an extended period.

On the December 2nd episode of WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre made his return to TV by attacking Sami Zayn after Zayn lost to Seth Rollins in the main event of the show. The 3-time World Champion has been absent for 2 months, last in the ring as part of the brutal Hell in a Cell match against CM Punk at Bad Blood. As it was reported that McIntyre required 16 staples in his head to close the head wound suffered in the match, it was assumed that McIntyre was away to recover from the injury.

While appearing on KWCH 12 Morning News, McIntyre referenced the injury and also stated that he was back in Scotland after suffering a family loss:

“I was off the past two months. My last match was a Hell in a Cell match, a very brutal match. I got hit in the head at one point and needed sixteen staples to close a wound at the top of my head. I suffered a family loss as well so I went back to Scotland to deal with that and re-evaluate my priorities and realize that I have probably given a bit too much to my profession, to my colleagues, and not enough to my family. I kind of realized I’ve been giving a bit too much for the past 17 years and it’s time to start taking a little more. My mentality is I’m going to take what’s mine, I’m going to beat up the people who deserve to get beat up,”

What’s Next For Drew McIntyre?

On the December 9th Raw, McInytre first appeared via video package and explained his actions on Raw, noting that he became incensed when he saw Sami Zayn and Jey Uso team with Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Appearing live later in the night, McIntyre once again attacked Zayn after Zayn announced that he would be facing McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14th.
