Dominik Mysterio Wants High-Stakes Stipulation Match Against Penta At WrestleMania 42

Dominik Mysterio Wants High-Stakes Stipulation Match Against Penta At WrestleMania 42

Dominik Mysterio has called for a rematch against Intercontinental Champion Penta, and is willing to put up some major stakes.

While speaking with Brad Gilmore on the Reality of Wrestling YouTube channel, Mysterio stated that he wanted another match against the masked luchador to get back the Intercontinental Championship. Looking to also put it all on the line to get the title back. Mysterio even offered to put up his hair and moustache in a mask vs. hair match that would also have the Intercontinental Championship at stake:

“I want my IC championship back. I don’t care what I have to do. I know Penta is an ugly, ugly dude, so I’m willing to put my hair up on the line against his mask and the IC championship. Hell, I’ll even put up my mustache – whatever it takes to get my IC title back.”

Mysterio also noted that he had already beaten Penta multiple times and blamed the most recent loss on Finn Balor, who was kicked out of The Judgment Day on the March 9 episode of Raw:

“I beat this dude probably seven or eight times already. He got lucky on this last one because of Finn Balor’s dumb ass,” Mysterio said of Penta. “I would like to walk out as a double champ at WrestleMania.”

Very rarely seen in WWE, the mask vs. hair stipulation is one that many fans have theorised to be the final match between Dominik Mysterio and his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. The father and son first faced off at WrestleMania 39, with Rey picking up the victory. Two years later, Dominik won his match to capture the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.

How Did Dominik Mysterio Lose The Intercontinental Championship To Penta?

On the March 2 Raw, The Judgment Day met Danhausen backstage. During the segment, Danhausen cursed Mysterio prior to his IC Title defence against Penta. Later that night, Mysterio competed in the match and looked to use the ring hammer to cheat to win. However, Balor stopped JD McDonagh from handing Mysterio the weapon, saying that he needed to do it himself. Penta then hit the Mexican Destroyer to win the match and the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
