Dominik Mysterio is hoping to see another member of the WWE roster show fans what they can really do very soon!
Following the heel turn at Clash at the Castle, Mysterio began to make a name for himself and was no longer known as just being Rey Mysterio’s son. One of the most hated stars on the roster, Msyterio’s work both as a solo act along with Rhea Ripley and the rest of The Judgment Day let him shine as a standout star. Currently reigning as the Intercontinental Champion, Mysterio is regarded by fans as one of the best current wrestlers under 30 and has more than proved that he can hold his own when given the opportunity.
With TV time being limited, not everyone is able to compete at their full potential every week of the year. When asked by Alistair McGeorge of Metro UK who he wants to see be given that opportunity, Mysterio named Alpha Academy’s Akira Tozawa as his pick:
‘Man, there’s so many. I feel like if they just let [Akira] Tozawa go, he would be – he’s just so f***ing good! He’s the man!’
Although WWE fans mainly associate Tozawa as being a comedic character on Raw, those who are more familiar with his work know what he is really capable of. Making a nem for himself on the independents, Tozawa’s matches against Ricochet, Kevin Steen [Owens] and Chris Hero made him one of the standout performers in PWG. Additionally, the former Cruiserweight Champion had standout matches against Shingo Takagi and BxB Hulk in the promotion Dragon Gate.
Dominik Mysterio To Defend Intercontinental Championship Against Former WWE Champion
Mysterio attempted to attack AJ Styles after The Phenomenal One defeated JD McDonagh on the June 16th episode of Raw. Running to the back with the Intercontinental Title in hand, Styles later handed it back to acting General Manager Nick Aldis, who informed Styles that he would be challenging Mysterio for the gold at Night on Champions on June 28th.
