Cody Rhodes has announced his choice.
The winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble seemed at somewhat of a crossroads over the past week due to events that have transpired. Despite clearly choosing Roman Reigns at the Premium Live Event, the February 2nd edition of SmackDown gave fans more questions than answers. Stating that he would not be facing The Tribal Chief, Rhodes introduced The Rock, who stared down Reigns and seemingly set up the marquee match for Philadelphia.
On February 8th the hotly anticipated WrestleMania press conference took place in Las Vegas. Beginning with Seth Rollins, the World Heavyweight Champion was interrupted by Reigns, who discussed his WrestleMania plans. Despite there being heavy protest from Rollins, Reigns declared that the challenger was his choice and not Rhodes, choosing The Rock.

The People’s Champion made his entrance and discussed the importance of the match between himself and Reigns at WrestleMania. Bringing up a graphic of the family tree, Rock stated that there is only one dominant family in professional wrestling and to those who are protesting, it doesn’t matter what they think. Rhodes would interrupt the conference, declaring that what was going on was bullsh*t. Rhodes admitted that although Reigns has a lot of power, he won the Royal Rumble so it is his choice to make. Rhodes then made his decision, he would face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
The choice was met with protest from Reigns and Rock, with Reigns taking shots at Rhodes’ late father Dusty Rhodes. Cody retorted that their family had done nothing in the past 2 years before Rock slapped Rhodes, offended that his family was insulted. Rollins, Triple H and officials separated everyone as the press conference came to an end.
After the conference, an angry Rock demanded that Triple H “fix this.” Shortly afterwards, Triple H posted the graphic to make the match official.

Reigns vs. Rhodes joins Iyo Sky vs. Bayley as the other confirmed match for WrestleMania 40.
