CM Punk has finally had his wish granted as he will be in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
The final segment on the March 28th SmackDown saw a contract signing take place between Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, who will face off in a triple threat match at The Show of Shows. Reigns made his entrance first, followed by Rollins and finally Punk. As Punk looked through the contract, Paul Heyman told Punk that what he was looking for was in there. Heyman then told Punk that the 3-way match would be the main event of WrestleMania, much to the delight of the fans in attendance in London. However, Rollins as not as happy about the news, protesting that Punk does not deserve it.
While not confirmed, it is likely that this match will headline night one of the show as Cody Rhodes and John Cena is likely to close out the weekend. Although this will be the 1st time that Punk has headlined the show, this will be Reigns’ 10th time in the main event and Rollins’ 2nd [3rd if you count the cash-in at WrestleMania 31].
It should also be noted that much like 2018, this also means that neither Royal Rumble winner will be in the main event of the show.
CM Punk Finally Gets His Wish
It has been well known that Punk has been looking to main event WrestleMania for years and was a major point of contention behind his infamous walk out in 2014. While it was rumoured that Punk may be a part of one of the main events at WrestleMania 40, an injury suffered in the Royal Rumble put a stop to those plans.
