What is next for CM Punk in WWE?
In just 48 hours, CM Punk returned to WWE and appeared live on WWE Raw to cut his first promo on the show in nearly 10 years. Many thought that this was rather tame in comparison to what has been said in the past. However, as noted by Haus of Wrestling, there are no intentions of previous AEW drama being discussed on camera. After all, in this situation the best way to get revenge is to simply ignore them, with everyone aware which is truly the bigger company.
As reported by Sports Illustrated, Punk is set to be placed into programs with the top 2 champions on either brand. With the reaction of Seth Rollins at Survivor Series going viral on social media, the future clash seemed very apparent to most. However, what some might not expect is a future match down the road with none other than The Tribal Chief; Roman Reigns.
The major talking point still remains of what will happen in the long run? Punk has been all smiles upon his WWE return and stated as much in his promo. However, the same was said when he arrived in AEW in 2021 and that is how the current state of play has been determined. For now, Punk has been reported as very friendly and open with the roster and is hopeful that the positive momentum will continue.
CM Punk’s Past Remains
Punk remains a divisive character, with just as many sceptics as supporters. So much so that Sports Illustrated compared the return to that of Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall’s arrival back in 2002.
Many are under the illusion of wait and see, but it should be noted that WWE’s locker room is a much more united front than AEW, with backstage fights seldom heard of in WWE.
Crucially, while AEW still appears to be the same, WWE has changed dramatically in the past few years.
