Brock Lesnar Under New WWE Contract

Brock Lesnar has signed a new contract WWE following on from his controversial return at SummerSlam earlier in the year.

A major update on Lesnar’s status with the company was reported on by Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer NewsletterAlthough it was previously reported by Meltzer that the former WWE and UFC World Champion remained under contract during his 2-year hiatus from the ring, it has since been updated that Lesnar’s deal expired a few months before the aforementioned SummerSlam return. However, it is noted that Lesnar was being paid during his time away and that the previous deal was extended:

“A correction regarding Brock Lesnar. Lesnar actually just signed a new contract to return. He was getting paid on his prior contract long after they stopped using him, but that deal did expire and he actually was a free agent for months until the new deal was signed,” Meltzer wrote. “They couldn’t extend the prior deal due to injury like with others because he wasn’t injured and it was their choice not to use him.”

Lesnar’s return was one that greatly divided fans due to the circumstances surrounding his previous exit. The WWE star has been named 42 times in the Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon and the company, alleging sexual abuse and trafficking. Lesnar is not a defendant in the case, but is alleged to have received sexual content from McMahon that was made by Grant. It is also alleged that Lesnar was offered sex with Grant, but this did not happen.
