Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE TV has been quietly confirmed as the former World Champion is set to be at 2 SmackDown tapings next month.
As advertised on WWE’s event page, Lesnar is set to be a part of the September 12 and 19 SmackDown tapings at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia and the Huntington Arena in Toledo, OH, respectively. This will be the first time in more than 2 years that he has appeared live at a TV taping.
Lesnar controversially returned to WWE at the end of SummerSlam night 2, attacking John Cena to close out the show shortly after Cena lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. As Cena waved goodbye to the fans, Lesnar’s music hit and the former WWE and UFC Heavyweight Champion hit an F5 on Cena to bring the night to a shocking end. Lesnar had been away from TV as he was named in the Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE that contains allegations of sexual assault and trafficking. Although he is named as part of the allegations, Lesnar is not a defendant in the case.
Brock Lesnar To Return To WWE TV Ahead Of John Cena Match
As Lesnar laid out Cena to close out SummerSlam, it appears to be very likely that Cena and Lesnar will run things back one final time as part of the Hollywood star’s ongoing retirement tour, which only has 11 appearances left. While it was rumoured that Lesnar vs. Cena would take place at Clash in Paris at the end of the month, Cena will instead wrestle Logan Paul at the show.
According to reports, the Lesnar vs. Cena match is currently pencilled in for an as-yet-untitled WWE show set to take place on September 20, the same date as AEW All Out. With Lesnar set to appear on the 2 SmackDowns before this date, this appears to be the case.
