Former WWE star Braun Strowman has let the fans know that he required surgery following his recent hospitalisation.
The former World Champion first caused concerns when he posted a photo on his Instagram page from a hospital bed earlier in the week. On January 29, Strowman provided another update, noting that the cause of the visit was an infected bursa around his knee and that he had just had surgery:
“Just had surgery. I had an infection in my bursa around my patella in my knee. It got out of control. They went in this morning. They removed the bursa from my knee, drained a bunch of fluid out of it, and then left the wound open to continue to drain.”
Braun Strowman Thanks Fans Following Surgery
Strowman also thanked everyone who wished him well as he continues his road to recovery:
Update on my leg. Again I cant express how much the prayers and love for some many around the world mean to me. Yall have helped get me through this. Still a ways to go but there everyday. Pain is finally starting to come down. Still got a lot of battle to go but I think we are over the hump and should get easier every hour.
I love you all very very much.
First known to WWE fans as a member of The Wyatt Family, Strowman quickly ascended to the main event scene after he went solo. Known as The Monster Among Men, Strowman had multiple opportunities at the World Championship, but never won the title in front of fans. Strowman did defeat Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 to win the Universal Championship, but this was the Mania with no fans in attendance.
Strowman left WWE for a second time in the summer of 2025 after he was informed that his contract would not be renewed. Since then, Strowman has remained in the entertainment world with his food show, Everything on The Menu, which has been renewed for a second season.
It remains unknown if Strowman will ever make a return to wrestling. In a late 2025 interview, Braun Strowman claimed that he was “hated” by some in WWE.
Features of Wrestling would like to wish Braun Strowman a full and speedy recovery.
