Blake Monroe Opens Up About Joining WWE

Blake Monroe has spoken out about her dream coming true now that she has signed with WWE.

After leaving AEW, the former Mariah May wasted little time in making her intentions known as she made a shock appearance on the June 3rd edition of NXT. One week later, the former AEW Women’s Champion officially introduced herself to the fans via video that she would be known as Blake Monroe moving forward.

Shortly after Monroe left AEW, multiple reports noted that it was always her dream to join WWE. While speaking on her Vlog, the British wrestler admitted that it still didn’t feel that she is a WWE Superstar, adding that it is the greatest achievement of her life:

“I didn’t think I was going to be in WWE and it still doesn’t really feel real to me, and I don’t know if I’m going to share this one because this is so personal — but this is maybe thus far the greatest achievement of my life to be a part of WWE.”

Later in the video, Monroe admitted that at one point it looked like WWE would not be an option for her and that training at Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears’ Flatbacks wrestling school helped to reignite her passion:

“I don’t know, I think I felt a little dejected at the end of last year and I didn’t know [WWE] was an option for me. And I started training again — I actually started training at Flatbacks, which is an amazing school. I was training in Atlanta, and I just fell in love with wrestling again.”

Continuing to speak about the doubt that crept in, Monroe also noted that her manager and her family encouraged her to chase her dreams, adding that the journey to WWE happened very quickly:

“I fell in love with wrestling again, and I felt like I was back in the game and I wanted to do so much more. And I spoke to my manager and he said ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to people around me and they were like ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to my parents who were really the big ones, and even my dad said ‘Life isn’t a dress rehearsal you get one go this is your dream since you were a little kid.’ And so everything happened really quickly. And I’m doing it, I am officially a WWE superstar. I’m debuting at NXT tonight.”

Monroe signed her NXT contract on the June 17 episode of NXT, but was attacked by Fatal Influence afterwards and put through a table.

The former Mariah May last competed at AEW Revolution back in March, losing to Toni Storm in the Hollywood ending match for the Women’s Championship.
