WWE are starting the new year off with a bang.
Much like the January 1st edition of WWE Raw, the first SmackDown of the new year will be loaded with big matches. Multiple number one contenders will be confirmed and a championship will be defended.
The December 22nd edition of SmackDown saw Michin pin Iyo Sky in an 8 woman Holiday Havoc match. As a result, Sky will put the title on the line on the New Year’s Revolution special.
Also on the December 22nd show, AJ Styles, Randy Orton and LA Knight all made their case to be the next challenger for Roman Reigns. A triple threat match has been booked, with the winner advancing to the Royal Rumble to face The Tribal Chief.
The Line-Up For The January 5th WWE SmackDown Is As Follows:
- IYO SKY (c) vs. Michin – Singles match for the WWE Women’s Championship:
- Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight – The Winner will face Roman Reings at the Royal Rumble
- Kevin Owens vs. Santos Escobar – The winner will be the new number one contender to the United States Championship
- Butch & TBA vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson)
- Roman Reigns to appear live
- Logan Paul to appear live
