PROGRESS Wrestling owner Big Damo has responded to a number of posts who have taken issue with Joe Coffey being booked for an upcoming show.
Over the weekend, PROGRESS announced that Coffey would be in action at the Scorchio event on July 26 against Kouga. Following the graphic being posted to social media, fans called out PROGRESS for booking Coffey on the show in light of Speaking Out allegations that were made back in 2020.
Coffey was accused of sexual abuse and sending unsolicited pictures of his genitals to a female wrestler during the movement. The former WWE star was suspended by the company in June 2020 but returned to NXT UK in November. Coffey continued to be featured on programming until he and his Gallus stablemates, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang, were released in May 2025.
Big Damo Responds To Criticism Of Joe Coffey Booking
Taking to social media, Big Damo responded to the backlash by responding to a post:
“In this particular instance I saw the evidence. I saw the conversations that were doctored on one side. On the other side was the full conversation. This is why he wasn’t let go from his job when many others were.”
Damo also stated that Coffey was told not to say anything by WWE regarding the allegations:
“Effectively what Michael said, he was also told not to say anything by his employer at the time and has tried putting it behind him in the 6 years since.”
Damo and his wife Nikki Storm are the new owners of PROGRESS Wrestling, having acquired the UK promotion shortly after the former Nikki Cross left WWE. Storm will be in action at the event, as she is set to face Session Moth Martina.
