Becky Lynch Responds To "Becky Hogan" Comments

Becky Lynch has responded to the claims that she never puts younger stars over, leading to some fans giving her the nickname “Becky Hogan.”

A multi-time Women’s Champion, Royal Rumble and WrestleMania main eventer, Lynch has cemented herself as one of the biggest stars in WWE and one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all time, a fact The Man regularly reminds the fans of on TV each week.

However, while Lynch has found a lot of success inside and outside the ring, some fans are of the belief that it has come at the expense of others. With Lynch regularly winning the big matches, some have theorised that Lynch has politicked those big wins and won’t put over the next generation, earning her the nickname “Becky Hogan” online. It should be noted that the theory that Lynch doesn’t put over others is incorrect, as the likes of Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley and Maxxine Dupri have all picked up big wins over the Irish star with championships at stake.

“When You’re At The Top Of The Card, It Happens To Everybody”: Becky Lynch On “Becky Hogan”

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Lynch noted that the comments have been directed at other top stars such as Sami Zayn, Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins. The former Women’s Champion added that fans aren’t aware of what goes on behind the scenes, but isn’t too concerned with their opinions:

“I don’t know. I think that’s when you’re at the top of the card, it happens to everybody. Nobody is unscathed. It was Sami Hogan. It might still be Sami Hogan. It’s Cody Hogan, it’s Roman Hogan, Seth Hogan, we’re all Hogan, which say what you will about the man, one of the biggest stars to ever exist. So, yeah, I think it becomes this thing. People don’t understand how creative happens and if they see somebody that is in a preferable spot for a long period of time, they go, okay, that’s because that person is politicking and trying to hold everybody down. So, you know, it’s just people don’t know how it happens, and they don’t know what goes into it, and that’s fine, you know? They’re entitled to have their opinions. I want you to have your opinions, go nuts with your opinions. But now I’m just gonna do what I do, and how you feel about me is how you’re gonna feel about me.”

Lynch will challenge AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42. When asked who had the advanatge, Lynch stated that she did, as WrestleMania is a home game for her:

“Oh, that’s me. Because WrestleMania is my home. This is my 10th WrestleMania, which makes it an anniversary, which makes it special. Started WrestleMania 32, here we are, 42. I missed one because of the child.”
