The SmackDown Women’s Championship match has been changed for the Hell in A Cell event on Sunday June 20th. Champion Bianca Belair will face Bayley inside of the steel structure. The match was initially booked as a standard singles match. However, Belair upped the ante on the go-home episode of SmackDown. The Est made the challenge for the championship match to take place inside the cell.
Challenger Bayley came down to the ring and a brawl ensued. Bayley stood tall at the end and held the SmackDown Women’s Championship in the air, accepting the challenge from Bianca.
This match change means that two cell matches are once again taking place on the pay per view of the same name. The Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio was moved to the go home episode of SmackDown. Reigns was victorious in this clash.
This will be Bianca’s first time competing in a Hell in A Cell match. For challenger Bayley, this will be her second match. The former champion faced Sasha Banks at the Hell in A Cell pay per view in 2020. In that match, Banks was victorious and captured the title from Bayley.
The other cell match to take place on June 20th is for the WWE Championship. Champion Bobby Lashley will defend his title against Drew McIntyre. If The Scottish Warrior is unsuccessful, he can’t challenge for the title again for as long as Lashley is champion.
