Chris Jericho has been away from AEW TV for a number of weeks, and an update has been provided on his status as an active performer.
The first-ever AEW World Champion was last seen on the Dynamite after Dynasty. In the segment, Jericho expressed his disappointment in Big Bill and Bryan Keith and stated that he would be taking time away.
The reason for Jericho’s extended absence was due to a tour with Fozzy that ran through May. Now that the tour has concluded, it is possible that the former World Champion could make his return to TV soon, potentially to follow up on The Learning Tree angle. However, according to a recent report, Jericho could be off TV longer than expected.
While discussing Jericho on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that as of right now, there are no creative plans for Jericho in AEW:
“His Fozzy tour is over, he’s done some TV work while he’s been gone, a couple of TV shows. As far as coming back to AEW, there’s nothing on the table right now…I think he felt it was time for a break, so that’s that.”
Chris Jericho Recently Lost ROH World Championship
Chris Jericho became a 9-time World Champion back in October 2024 when he defeated Mark Briscoe in a ladder match to capture the ROH World Title for a second time. Holding the title for 165 days, Jericho dropped the championship to Bandido at Dynasty.
