Backstage Reaction To The Rock’s Recent Comments

Backstage Reaction To The Rock's Recent Comments

Despite not being a part of WrestleMania 41, The Rock has become a major talking point in the wrestling world once again.

Given that The Final Boss was a major part in the Elimination Chamber angle that saw John Cena turn heel, there was a huge expectation that he would be at WrestleMania and factor into the match between Cena and Cody Rhodes. However, while Travis Scott interfered in the match, there was no sign of Rock on the show, which left many disappointed when all was said and done.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show a few days later, Rock noted that he missed the show as he didn’t want to take the spotlight away from Rhodes and Cena, stating, “The Final Boss’ work is done.” Furthermore, Rock said the following in response to a rant from Busted Open Radio host Dave LaGreca about his comments:

Hi Dave, the business is a complete work. Always has been, always will be. Every aspect of it. Every match. Every interview.

Please join me, Cody, Cena, Brian and the rest of us for our creative discussions so you can expand your perspective. Until then, stop ranting, it’s not healthy my friend. Enjoy the show.

Ps, tell Bubba I have Grand Marnier and hush puppies for all of us 🥃🤣

How Have The Rock’s Comments Been Received?

A report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has provided more information as to what the talent thought of Rock’s recent activity. One pointed out that Rock was not at the show and did little to promote it but quickly appeared on a podcast to discuss all the issues he had with the show. In regard to his involvement in the card, another stated that while Rock didn’t want to be seen interfering in WrestleMania plans, he didn’t understand how integral he was to the story.

The report adds that the backstage reaction was generally that of confusion as opposed to frustration, along with his lack of promotion for the show or being referenced on TV. One talent stated “we all found it kind of weird that he didn’t promote the show at all.”

In response to The Rock’s comment directed at Dave LaGraca, one talent said the following:

“What does that mean? Is he working every time he stops by and talks to us backstage, too? Was that McAfee interview a work even though he specified he wasn’t in character?”
