The Women’s Championship will be defended in a Triple Threat match at the biggest party of the summer.
As announced on the July 21st episode of SmackDown, champion Asuka will defend the title against both Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair and a triple threat match.
Ever since returning to WWE, Charlotte Flair has demanded an opportunity at the championship. This angered Bianca Belair, who also wanted a title shot after being the one that Asuka defeated to become the new champion.
Both Flair and Belair have each had their respective shots at Asuka, but both matches ended in disqualification following interference from the other contender. The multiple no contests have resulted in WWE Officials having no choice but to make the Triple Threat match official.
The updated card for SummerSlam is as follows:
- Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
- Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor – Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship
- Asuka (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair – Triple Threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso – Tribal Combat. The winner will be the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and be recognised at The Tribal Chief
