A 6th match could be added to the WWE Clash in Paris card following the events that took place on the most recent episode of SmackDown.
On the August 22 episode, which aired live from Dublin, Ireland for the first time ever, Drew McIntyre appeared live to gloat about his previous attack on WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and how The American Nightmare has not been seen since. However, McIntyre’s night did not go according to plan as he was hit with an RKO from Randy Orton, who appeared for the first time since SummerSlam.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there was a strong chance that Orton vs. McIntyre could be added to the card, but it was not a certainty:
“There’s at least a solid chance that they’re going to add Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre to the pay-per-view on Sunday,” Meltzer said. “It’s not 100 percent, but it was something that’s been talked about.”
If this is the case, this will break the traditional 5-match format for B level PLEs.
Meltzer also added that the Orton and McIntyre rivalry will conclude before McIntyre moves on to Rhodes:
“They’re going to do the Orton match before they do the Cody match,” Meltzer said.
There has still not been an indication as to when Rhodes will make his return to TV. The WWE Champion has not competed on the recent UK tour.
