AJ Styles has named a notable star in AEW as his ultimate dream match he never got to face in a major promotion.
Having competed in TNA, NJPW and WWE among other promotions throughout his pro wrestling career, The Phenomenal One has been in the ring with some of the all-time greats. Notable rivalries in Styles’ career have included Samoa Joe, John Cena, Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada.
However, one name that Styles never got to face in a notable company was Kenny Omega, who is currently signed to AEW and previously held the World Championship. Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles noted that while he would have liked to have a match with Omega, they both went their separate ways. Styles also squashed any rumours that the match could be happening anytime soon, maintaining that he is retired:
“I would have liked to have had a match with him [Omega] anywhere, but it didn’t happen. I got too old and we went different places. It is what it is, it just wasn’t meant to be. It’s never going to happen. Just throwing that out there, it’s never going to happen. Never going to happen.”

Although fans would have loved to see Styles and Omega face off regardless of the promotion, the match happened back in 2006 before either man was an international star in wrestling. At the PCW Back To School Bash in Winnipeg, Canada, Omega picked up the win over Styles.
AJ Styles was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame over WrestleMania weekend.
