A title match, the Continental Challenge Cup continued and more on the August 19 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Looking to walk into Wembley Stadium as TBS Champion, Maya World put the title on the line in a 4-way match. With All In just over a week away, this will likely be the last time the championship will be defended before the big show.
The Continental Cup quarterfinals began on the show. Although he suffered an injury in the opening round, Nigel McGuinness continued in the tournament. McGuinness’ opponent was Don Callis Family member Hechicero.
AEW Dynamite Results August 19:
- Will Ospreay, Francesco Akira and HENARE defeated Rocky Romero, Lance Archer and Brian Cage
- Kyle Fletcher appeared live and spoke about being the best member in The Don Callis Family. Fletcher was about to run down Konosuke Takeshita, but The Alpha made his return after competing in the G1. Takeshita laid out Fletcher by hitting him with the International Title.
- Renee Paquette sat down with Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega. Both spoke about their history in New Japan. Ospreay got emotional, and Kenny Omega played into that, asking what the loss would do for Ospreay and his son.
- Maya World defeated Kris Statlander, Persephone and Hikaru Shida to retain the TBS Championship.
- Jon Moxley defeated Jay White to advance in the Continental Cup. The Dogs attacked Jay White after the match. The Conglomoration tried to make the save but were attacked by a returning Gabe Kidd. Adam Page and Brodido sent The Dogs retreating.
- Andrade El Idolo defeated Jonathan Cruz. Andrade vowed to beat MJF after the match.
- Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Moné brawled ahead of their match at All In. Nightingale was the one who stood tall when all was said and done.
- Nigel McGuinness defeated Hechicero to advance in the Continental Cup.
- Kevin Knight called out Darby Allin, but it was a trap. Allin was burned by pyro, and needed to be stretchered out of the arena.
- Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks defeated El Clon, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. Ospreay arrived after the match and was attacked by Omega to close out the show.
