The biggest AEW Dynamite of the year.
Airing live from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York, Grand Slam emanated from the iconic venue for the 4th consecutive year. One of the biggest matches heading into the show was the return of Nigel McGuinness to the ring, who was set to face off against long-time rival Bryan Danielson. The World Champion had not been seen on AEW TV since the shocking events that occurred at All Out.
Additionally, multiple championships were on the line at Grand Slam, which was presented like a mini PPV.
The Following Results Took Place At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam
- Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness opened the show. It was first teased that Danielson would not turn up but eventually made his entrance to The Final Countdown. Danielson defeated McGuinness which led to Christian Cage seemingly looking to cash in his guaranteed championship match, but Kip Sabian prevented it from becoming official.
- Hook defeated Roderick Strong to retain the FTW Championship. After the match, Hook retired the title and gave it to Taz
- The Young Bucks defeated Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher to retain the Tag Team Championships
- Prince Nana gave an update on Swerve Strickland but was interrupted by the arrival of MVP, who told Nana if Strickland wanted help he should give him a call
- Mariah May defeated Yuka Sakazaki to retain the Women’s Championship
- Jon Moxley defeated Darby Allin to become the new number one contender to the AEW World Championship. A brawl ensued after the match
