Adam Copeland And Christian Cage Win Tag Team Championships At AEW Double Or Nothing

For the first time since 2001, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are Tag Team Champions.

Competing in the opening match of AEW Double or Nothing, the veterans picked up the win over FTR in an “I Quit” match. The closing moment of the match saw Cope’s wife, Beth [Beth Phoenix], provide an assist to neutralise Stokely Hathaway. However, Beth was then driven into the steel steps and nearly shoved into a flaming table. However, Beth shoved Hathaway into the path of Cash Wheeler, sending them both into the table.

Dax Harwood was then put into multiple submission spots, but refused to give up. When Beth introduced a spiked board, Harwood quit, handing Cage and Cope the Tag Team Championships in the process.

The Copelands and Cage were finally able to get some revenge on FTR after the former champions took out Beth with a spike piledriver back at All Out.

Adam Copeland And Christian Cage Remain As A Team

Per the stipulations of the match, Cope and Cage would have been forced to split up as a duo if they were unsuccessful at capturing the titles at the pay-per-view. Best known for their time together in WWE, the tag champs were part of the TLC 6 alongside The Hardys and The Dudleys. Part of the first TLC matches, all 6 men put tag team wrestling on the map in The Attitude Era, influencing many of the next generation.

With it being well known that the veteran duo are fast approaching the end of their careers, this could be their final championship reign.
