An update has been published regarding the pectoral injury to Cody Rhodes.
The status of Rhodes for the Hell in a Cell Premium Live Event was called into question following WWE posting an update that the pectoral bone had been tore off of the bone. The American Nightmare would however compete, and would defeat Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match in the main event of the show. The injury to Rhodes was very noticeable, with audible gasps heard from the live crowd in Chicago once Rhodes removed his entrance jacket to reveal the nature of the bruise.
In an update posted by Fightful Select, Cody Rhodes “insisted” to work the match, and was not forced to compete by anyone from WWE management. The report also says that while Rhodes is scheduled for the June 6th Raw in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he is also scheduled for surgery to repair the torn pectoral on Thursday June 9th.
The report concludes by listing various recovery times for previous wrestlers that have gone pectoral surgery. The average recovery time is around 6 months, with the exception being John Cena’s “miraculous” recovery, which took only 4 months. If this timeline is correct, this will side-line Cody Rhodes for the rest of the year. A rough window of return for The American Nightmare would be around the 2023 Royal Rumble.
Features of Wrestling would like to wish Cody Rhodes a full and speedy recovery at this time.
