New NXT Tag Team Champions Crowned

New NXT Tag Team Champions were crowned on the April 12th edition of the show.

A gauntlet match took place on NXT 2.0, which saw Pretty Deadly defeat Grayson Waller & Sanga, Legado del Fantasma, The Creed Brothers and Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen to become champions for the first time in NXT 2.0.

The Creed Brothers were the first team out in the gauntlet match. The brothers first faced Legado del Fantasma and defeated the team to advance. The Creed Brothers would then dispatch Briggs and Jensen and Waller and Sanga before Pretty Deadly would be the final team out. While The Diamond Mind members had put in an iron man performance, the duo were worn out from competing in 3 matches prior. Elton Prince and Kit Wilson seized the opportunity to easily dispatch The Creed Brothers to win the titles in their in-ring debut for NXT 2.0.

While this is Pretty Deadly’s first reign with the NXT Tag Team Champions, Elton Prince and Kit Wilson have previously held the gold in NXT UK.

The reason for the gauntlet match was due to the titles being vacated due to the release of Nash Carter, who was let go from his WWE contract due to reportedly controversial actions and a further controversial photo coming to light.
