WWE SmackDown Results October 16: The Money In The Bank Fallout Continues

A grudge match, a huge face-to-face, and more took place on the October 16 WWE SmackDown.

Following Randy Orton’s return at SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes has been looking to get his hands on his former friend turned rival. With Rhodes demanding a match with Orton, Nick Aldis let The American Nightmare know that they would go face to face on SmackDown.

Following repeated war of words and backstage arguments between Nikki Bella and Paige, the two veterans faced off on the show.

At Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton received a future opportunity at the Women’s Championship by winning the women’s ladder match. Stratton addressed her victory on the show as she plans her future cash-in attempt.

WWE SmackDown Results October 16:

• WWE Champion Sami Zayn appeared live alongside Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. Zayn said that Penta should focus his Money in the Bank cash-in on Roman Reigns instead of him. Trick Williams interrupted and disrespected Zayn. Before Zayn could respond, Johnny Gargano yelled at Williams, setting up the first match.
• Trick Williams defeated Johnny Gargano.
• Paige defeated Nikki Bella.
• R-Truth vs. Damian Priest ended in referee stoppage due to injury concerns for Truth. Priest tried to attack Truth with a chair, but Fraxoim stopped him.
• Nick Aldis told CM Punk and Kevin Owens to stay away from each other moving forward.
• Gunther said Danhausen was tougher than he thought, considering he showed up to work after last week.
• New Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley appeared live. Fatal Influence interrupted and tried to attack the new champions, but Bliss and Paxley bailed before suffering any damage.
• Rey Fenix defeated Ricky Saints via DQ.
• Cody Rhodes demanded Randy Orton meet him in the ring, but Baron Corbin showed up instead. The match ended in DQ when Orton attacked Rhodes, but Rhodes got the upper hand. Rhodes hit Corbin with the punt to close out the show.
