The fallout from a chaotic ending and more is set for the July 17 edition of WWE SmackDown.
The July 10 show ended in shocking fashion as Gunther attacked General Manager Nick Aldis, who had only just been reinstated in his position. Furious that he was not given a WWE Championship match, Gunther attacked Aldis with the sleeper hold in the closing segment. Adam Pearce has since announced that he will be the authority figure for the July 17 show. Matches and segments are set to be announced closer to air time.
This will also be the final episode of SmackDown before the next Saturday Night’s Main Event. The latest special will air live from Madison Square Garden, with a title match and a no disqualification match announced for the show.
The line-up for Saturday Night’s Main Event is as follows:
- Paige & Brie Bella (c) vs. Fatal Influence – Tag team match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships
- Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh – No disqualification match
- Roman Reigns and New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson will appear
- CM Punk and Cody Rhodes vs. Sami Zayn and Gunther
- Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria
