WWE SmackDown Preview January 2

WWE SmackDown Preview January 2

An ambulance match and more have been announced for the January 2 WWE SmackDown, which will also be the first show of the year.

The rivalry between Damian Priest and Aleister Black is still not over despite the fact that they have both clashed multiple times. Looking to finally settle things, Priest and Black will collide one more time, this time in an ambulance match. The only way to win is to incapacitate the opponent until they are placed in the ambulance and the doors are closed.

Asuka and Kairi Sane now have 3 teams after their Women’s Tag Team Championships, with Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY being first in line as their title match is set for January 5. Ahead of the match, it was announced on the December 26 SmackDown that Ripley and SKY will team with Bliss and Flair to take on The Kabuki Warriors, Legend and Jax.

This will also be the first episode of SmackDown to return to the 3-hour format, which first took place at the start of 2025. However, while the previous move to 3 hours was temporary, there has been no word on whether this change will affect SmackDown temporarily or indefinitely.

The Following Has Been Announced For The January 2 WWE SmackDown:

  • 8 Woman Tag Team Match: Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, and Iyo Sky vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.
  • Jade Cargill vs. Michin (if Michin wins, she receives a title shot)
  • Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black – Ambulance match
