WWE kicked off its 2026 specials with Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24 live from Montreal.
Even though temperatures outside were -22, the show still went ahead as planned, albeit with some alterations. Host Joe Tessitore was unable to make the event due to travel issues, so Stephanie McMahon hosted the event solo.
With Saturday Night’s Main Event taking place one week before the Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre’s first challenger for the WWE Championship was determined. Additionally, Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez challenged Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY for the Women’s Tag Team Championships, and Cody Rhodes went one-on-one with Jacob Fatu.
12,891 was the announced attendance for the event.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett were on commentary for the show, with Lilian Garcia as the ring announcer.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Results January 24:
- Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu never officially took place as a brawl between both men ensued. Referee Charles Robinson was knocked down and security tried to separate both men,
- Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY defeated Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez to retain the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
- AJ Styles defeated Shinsuke Nakamura.
- Sami Zayn defeated Trick Williams, Randy Orton and Damian Priest to become the new number one contender to the WWE Championship. Zayn will face champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble on January 31.
