WWE edited the closing segment of the Dublin, Ireland episode of SmackDown for the American broadcast.
The closing segment of the August 22 episode of the show saw Logan Paul attack John Cena backstage following a confrontation earlier in the show, which saw the 17-time World Champion stand tall over the social media star after hitting him with an Attitude Adjustment. However, fans watching live and on tape delay saw the segment play out slightly differently.
On the live broadcast, Paul appeared off camera to sucker punch Cena. However, on the US feed, Paul is seen shoving General Manager Nick Aldis out of the way before delivering the punch. Prior to the attack, Aldis informed Cena that he had heard from Brock Lesnar following on from Lesnar’s shock return at SummerSlam, which saw the former UFC Champion lay out Cena to close out the show.
Due to the media rights agreement in the United States, which sees the show broadcast on the USA Network, fans are unable to watch European tapings live on Netflix and had to wait 5 hours until the show is broadcast. However, as the Raw media rights deal is on Netflix worldwide, all fans will be able to watch the August 25 episode of Raw from Birmingham, England live.
What Else Happened On The WWE SmackDown Show In Dublin?
Presenting a SmackDown taping for the first time in the city, the Dublin show saw Becky Lynch appear live and compete in the main event. Additionally, Randy Orton made his return to deliver an RKO to Drew McIntyre, and Piper Niven defeated Charlotte Flair, setting up a title match for next week.
