WWE Raw Results March 9: Penta Defends The Intercontinental Championship

A title match, Oba Femi faced off against Rusev and more took place on the March 9 episode of WWE Raw.

On the March 2 episode of Raw, Penta defeated Dominik Mysterio to capture the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career. Looking to be a fighting champion, Penta put his title on the line against The Original El Grande Americano.

Additionally, a new challenger for Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee was determined via a gauntlet match, along with Oba Femi facing Rusev in his first official Raw match after the two brawled the previous week.

Michael Cole and Corey Graves were on commentary for the show.

WWE Raw Results March 9:

  • Following a recap of last week’s show, General Manager Adam Pearce appeared in the ring and asked for Seth Rollins to join him. Instead, the ring was filled with masked men. One of the masked men was revealed to be Rollins. Pearce advised Rollins to not go to war with The Vision so soon after surgery, but was interrupted by Logan Paul and Austin Theory. The Vision threatened Rollins, leading to the masked men helping Rollins escape. The Usos and LA Knight beat down the heels to stand tall.
  • Bayley was the last woman standing in a gauntlet match to earn a future opportunity at AJ Lee’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The order of eliminations was as follows:
    • Sky pinned Valkyria
    • Sky pinned Rodriguez
    • Nile pinned Sky
    • Bayley pinned Nile
    • Bayley pinned Asuka
    • The Usos spoke backstage and noted they had some words for CM Punk following his comments directed at Roman Reigns the previous week.
  • The Original El Grande Americano had to time for Danhausen, so was cursed by the recent signee.
  • Penta defeated The Original El Grande Americano to retain the Intercontinental Championship
  • Dominik Mysterio called out Finn Balor after losing his Intercontinental Championship the previous week. Balor and the rest of Judgment Day appeared, with Balor saying that Mysterio needed to fight his own battles. Balor also said that Mysterio was a “spoiled little p***k.” A brawl ensued with Balor being on the receiving end of a 4 on 1 beatdown by The Judgment Day.
  • Oba Femi defeated Rusev.
  • CM Punk appeared live in the main event. Punk admitted he sunk to Roman Reigns’ level last week when he brought up Reigns’ late father. The Usos appeared and demanded an apology, to which Punk said he was sorry that Reigns had disrespected his family. Punk called The Usos “Young boys” and was struck in the head with a microphone by Jimmy Uso.
