A title match and more took place on the March 16 WWE Raw to continue the WrestleMania 42 build.
Bayley earned the right to face Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee after emerging victorious in a gauntlet match on last week’s show. Lee put her title on the line on Raw against Bayley in what was her first TV match in more than a decade.
With Brock Lesnar still on the lookout for a WrestleMania challenger, the former WWE Champion also appeared live on the road to the biggest show of the year. It has also been rumoured that Mania 42 could be the last time that Lesnar is in action at The Show of Shows.
WWE Raw Results March 16:
- Seth Rollins officially opened up the show and issued a threat to The Vision, but was interrupted by Paul Heyman and later Brock Lesnar. After Lesnar attacked the masked men, Oba Femi appeared, attacked Lesnar and stood tall over The Beast, accepting Lesnar’s open challenge for a match at WrestleMania 42.
- El Grande Americano defeated “The Original” El Grande Americano.
- AJ Lee defeated Bayley to retain the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Becky Lynch attacked Lee after the match.
- Penta defeated Dragon Lee to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
- Nattie Neidhart defeated Maxxine Dupri. Michael Cole attempted to conduct an interview with Randy Orton after the match, but The Viper cancelled it.
- Stephanie Vaquer defeated Raquel Rodriguez. Liv Morgan tried to interfere, but IYO SKY prevented it.
- CM Punk and Roman Reigns once again stood face-to-face ahead of their match at WrestleMania. Reigns mocked Punk for not main-eventing a show in Europe and that his wife was the big earner in the family. Punk retorted that he would be the winner at Mania 42 and called his challenger old, which caused Reigns to strike Punk. Security separated both men as the show went off the air.
