WWE NXT Stand & Deliver kicked off the weekend of action for the company and looked to set the tone for the next 2 days.
Taking place a few hours before WrestleMania 40 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, the top championships were on the line as NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defended against Tony D’Angelo, The War Dogs defended the Tag Team Championships against Axion and Nathan Frazer, North American Champion Oba Femi defended the title in a 3-way match and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria defended against Roxanne Perez.
The main event of the show saw former best friends collide as Trick Williams sought retribution on Carmelo Hayes. Following Williams’s unsuccessful attempt to capture the NXT Championship from Ilja Dragunov at Vengeance Day, Hayes berayed his friend by launching a brutal attack on his former ally. Williams returned at the Roadblock special to launch an attack on Hayes. The match was later made official and confirmed to be headlining the show, with Shawn Michaels praising both Superstars and stating that they very much deserve it.
