WWE Faction Quietly Disbanded

A WWE faction is no more following recent updates that included one of the members getting released.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful SelectDamage CTRL have officially broken up with the decision being made by the company back in May when Dakota Kai was released from her contract. Since then, remaining members IYO SKY and Kairi Sane have not been announced as “representing Damage CTRL” when being introduced to the ring.

Although Asuka is set to return on the June 16th Raw as part of the Queen of the Ring tournament, company sources told Fightful that the group would not be getting back together. However, in a more positive note to end the report, it is stated that the former members could still team together and the name could still be revived down the road.

WWE Faction Damage CTRL Is No More

Damage CTRL made their debut at SummerSlam 2022 when IYO SKY and Dakota Kai accompanied a returning Bayley to the ring shortly after Bayley interrupted the post-match between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. SKY and Kai quickly won the Women’s Tag Team Championships after their debut and SKY won the Money in the Bank contract the following year. One year after their debut, SKY cashed in her contract at SummerSlam 2023 to win the WWE Women’s Championship.

At Crown Jewel 2023, a returning Kairi Sane helped Kai retain the title and joined Damage CTRL, shortly followed by Asuka. After Bayley won the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2024, she chose SKY as her champion for WrestleMania after realising that the group were planning to kick her out. Bayley defeated SKY at Mania.

Asuka and Sane won the Women’s Tag Team Championships in January 2025 and lost them at Backlash France to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. This was also Asuka’s final match before being side-lined with injury for over a year.
