WWE Backlash airs live in Europe.
For the first time ever, WWE will host a Premium Live Event in France. The move is part of the company’s global expansion plans where they look to host as many b-shows outside of the United States and Canada. With fans in Europe able to watch the show live and fans in the United States able to watch the show in the early afternoon, the worldwide live audience is expected to increase.
Following on from his victory at WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes will make his first televised defence of the Undisputed Championship as he puts the title on the line against AJ Styles. Both world titles will be on the line as Damian Priest will also defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso.
Predictions For WWE Backlash Are As Follows:
Kevin Owens and Randy Orton vs. Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga
This will likely be Tonga’s debut match and one that The Bloodline need to win to establish themselves as a threat once more following the events that took place at WrestleMania. Additionally, Sikoa still has yet to win a match since November 2023 and needs to change that as soon as possible. With the rosters and storylines resetting on May 6th, Owens and Orton can afford a loss here to set up whatever comes next. This could also be the show where Jacob Fatu makes his long-awaited debut to help The Bloodline achieve victory.
Winners: Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga
Bayley (c) vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi – Triple Threat Match For The WWE Women’s Championship
Although it will be Tiffy Time in 2024 at some point, it won’t be just yet. Bayley has only just become champion and is likely to lose the title to Stratton in a singles match further down the line. Any alliance between Bayley and Naomi will likely end quickly shortly after Stratton is dispatched. Much like in Australia, Stratton is likely to receive a great reaction.
Winner: Bayley
The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill – Tag Team Match For The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
If only one championship is changing hands on this show, it will be this one. Cargill has been booked very strong ever since her debut and an alliance with The EST has only made her more likely to win matches moving forward, as was seen at WrestleMania 40. This is going to be the start of a dominant run for the duo and will eventually lead to them feuding when they drop the titles later in the year.
Winners: Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill
Damian Priest (c) vs. Jey Uso – Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Having just won the championship and seemingly set to break away from The Judgment Day, the era of Priest as champion on Raw has only just begun. As Uso is so over with the fans he can afford a loss and still come out of it with a great reaction. As Raw locks down the roster and builds to King of the Ring, Priest has got a lot more left to do as champion.
Winner: Damian Priest
Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles – Singles Match For The Undisputed Championship
In what is likely the main event and a way to send the fans home happy, Rhodes will defend the title for the first time at a Premium Live Event. Much like many of the other champions competing, The American Nightmare only just became champion and is very much the face of the company right now. Styles will have multiple moments where it looks like he will win but no one believes that there will be any other result other than Rhodes walking out of Lyon still the champion.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
