Will Ospreay Could Be Away From AEW For A While

Will Ospreay could be set to take an extended break from AEW following an update about the British wrestler’s condition.

Ospreay and partner Swerve Strickland were victorious in their tag team match at All In on July 12, and in the process stripped The Young Bucks of their titles as AEW EVPs. Making an appearance later in the night, Ospreay was attacked during his main event run-in and had his head placed in a steel chair and stamped on by Claudio Castagnoli.

Following an initial report by Fightful Select that Ospreay would be taking time away as he was banged up, a follow-up from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the Ospreay injury is said to be “worse than he thought” and will be evaluated by medical staff soon.

At the time of writing, it is unknown when Ospreay will make his return to TV. However, with Forbidden Door set to take place at the O2 Arena in London next month, Ospreay is expected to be heavily featured on the show if he is healthy, as it will take place not too far from his hometown of Essex.

Will Ospreay Extends Record With Latest AEW Match

Ospreay’s most recent match at All In was awarded 5.5 stars by Meltzer in the latest Newsletter. Following the latest round of star ratings, the former International Champion now has 53 matches to his name rated 5* or more, which is also more than anyone else in the history of the star ratings system. Kenny Omega is in second place with 29 matches.
