Will Ospreay has responded to the recent back-and-forth between himself and Triple H.
On the Friday of WrestleMania week, Triple H made comments on The Pat McAfee show that alluded to the fact that if wrestlers were afraid of “the grind” and chose other promotions with a lighter schedule over WWE then he didn’t want them in WWE. Triple H’s comments caused a stir online with many feeling they were not justified.
A few days later on AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay gave his own thoughts and referenced Triple H’s marriage to Stephanie McMahon, which was also met with criticism from fans. Veterans called out Ospreay for his comments and that it may harm his future prospects, but The Ariel Assassin is not concerned.
Speaking with Adrian Hernandez, Ospreay stated that he had no regrets over his comments and some took it too personally:
“It is what it is. Everyone sent it to me. People within the company were saying, ‘That was a bag at you.’ I’m over it now. I said my bit. My thing was funny. Everyone took it way too personally. All these old f*cks that are like, ‘I have a podcast’ and they think they know everything. I couldn’t give a f*ck about these guys. As soon as it was said, I fired back and it should be done. At the end of it, no harm done. I f*cking like Triple H. It was a little bit hard hearing that sh*t. I was nothing but respectful in all the talks. I have my own mission, my own adjectives, my own goals. Just because it doesn’t fit with your things, it doesn’t mean people should be firing shots my way. I come from a generation where if you fire one at me, I fire one back,”
Will Ospreay Looks To Win First AEW Championship
Now a full-time member of the AEW roster, the British star is now focused on winning championships and cementing his legacy in the wrestling world. At Double or Nothing on May 26th, Ospreay hopes to win his first championship in AEW as he challenges Roderick Strong for the International Championship in Las Vegas.
