Why WWE Scrapped Alexa Bliss Return

Alexa Bliss

More information has come to light regarding the cancelled plans for Alexa Bliss to return to WWE.

With the Royal Rumble approaching fast and with Bliss closing in on 2 years away from WWE, fans believed that the former Women’s Champion making her return at the event or shortly before was an inevitability. However, in a surprising update, all creative plans for an Alexa Bliss reutrn were scrapped.

While the specifics were unknown at the time of the report, there was speculation that it was related to Bliss’s contract, which Dave Meltzer elaborated on while discussing the WWE star on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“The deal with Alexa Bliss is, she was supposed to be on the show in San Jose. They have not come to terms on a contract but she was going to debut – the thing is she was gonna debut with the Wyatt Sicks but the Wyatt Sicks have been moved to SmackDown so it kinda made no sense for her to be on Raw.

She was expected to come back and they’re working out a contract deal, that’s where everything stands right now.”

In a further update by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the reason for the scrapped return was due to her contract, on which more information has been provided. The report states that Bliss’ team were looking to negotiate a new deal “with enhanced perks” as opposed to extending her existing deal. WWE reportedly refused to do that, leaving both sides at an impasse. It is also stated that Bliss’ team stood firm on wanting a new deal as opposed to an extension.

What Were The Scrapped Alexa Bliss Plans?

With Bliss previously associated with Bray Wyatt on WWE TV, reports indicated that the former Women’s Champion was set to be involved with The Wyatt Sicks faction, who were recently moved over to SmackDown as part of the Talent Transfer Window.
