Jordynne Grace recently debuted new entrance music during the June 17 episode of WWE NXT, where she faced Lola Vice. Her updated music, notably lacking the iconic siren intro from her previous theme, was met with immediate criticism from fans who found it to be significantly more generic.
As the match got underway, chants of “Fire Def Rebel” echoed through the arena, a direct shot at the in-house music production team responsible for many current WWE entrance themes. However, it’s important to note that, as of this writing, Def Rebel has not been officially confirmed as the creators of Grace’s new theme.
Grace had previously used her recognisable theme both in NXT and during her tenure in TNA, where she retained ownership rights to the song. This suggests that licensing issues were not the reason behind the change. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE has recently enforced a policy requiring full ownership of all music used on their programming. This shift in approach appears to have influenced the decision to replace Grace’s theme.
Jordynne Grace Sees Sirens Removed From Entrance Music
Additionally, the removal of the sirens from the intro stemmed from a clash with Bron Breakker’s entrance music. Breakker, the nephew of WWE legend Scott Steiner, also uses sirens in his theme, and was given priority due to the family legacy connection.
This isn’t the first time Def Rebel has drawn criticism from fans. Wrestlers such as Zelina Vega, AJ Styles, and The Street Profits have also received themes perceived as uninspired or low in quality, leading fans to coin the term “Def Rebelled” to describe stars saddled with lacklustre entrance music.
Grace made her official WWE debut back in February as a surprise entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, this time as a member of the WWE roster. Grace had previously made multiple appearances in NXT as part of the ongoing connection with TNA.
Grace was victorious in her match against Vice and has advanced to the 4-way match on the June 24 episode of NXT against Lash Legend, Izzi Dame and Jaida Parker. Whoever emerges as the victor will go on to challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution on July 13th.
