When Cody Rhodes Believes A Heel Turn Could Happen

Cody Rhodes has admitted that he can’t be the good guy forever and that it is only a matter of time before he has his heel turn.

Ever since Rhodes made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 back in 2022, The American Nightmare has been beloved by the fans. Quickly being established as the number one babyface in the company, the fans were continually behind Rhodes throughout his journey to becoming WWE Champion 2 years later and the year-plus reign that followed.

Although a section of the fans online has grown tired of the Rhodes babyface act, those in arenas and purchasing merchandise tell a different story. Still getting one of the loudest reactions each week, Rhodes has also been one of the biggest merchandise sellers over the past few years and is a hit with families and older fans.

However, despite the fact that the popularity shows no signs of fading anytime soon, nothing lasts forever and a heel turn will occur at some point.

Cody Rhodes Gives Heel Turn Timeframe

While speaking with Kay Adams at Fanatics, Rhodes was first asked when fans will know that the heel turn is on the way:

“You’ll know because X and Instagram will hate it. Because today, heels are like, oh, that’s a cool heel. We’re loving John Cena, no, if you’re burying it and hate it and talking about how you don’t want it on your TV that’s what an actual bad guy is.”

In regard to a timeframe, the former WWE Champion added that fans can expect to see a different side to him either a year or three years from now:

“I think you have a good solid year, maybe even three years, because I am not changing until I’m changed, if that makes any sense. My hair is naturally dark. I don’t know if I could go back. But if The Rock had it his way, I would have been changed already. So I think he sees something that maybe I don’t see, and that’s a very smart individual. So maybe I follow his lead. Maybe not.”

Rhodes will next be in action at the Night of Champions event in Saudi Arabia on June 28 as he will face former friend and rival Randy Orton in the King of the Ring finals. If Rhodes defeats Orton, he will face the WWE Champion at SummerSlam, which will either be John Cena or CM Punk.

H/t to Fightful.
