An update has been provided on Oba Femi following his surprising actions at the end of the latest WWE NXT broadcast.
The January 6 episode saw Femi successfully defend the World Championship against Leon Slater in the main event of the New Year’s Evil special. However, shortly after a backstage segment aired, the camera cut back and showed the title in the ring, as Femi had left it behind.
Shortly afterwards, WWE confirmed that the top prize on the developmental brand had been vacated, which also seemingly signals Femi’s inevitable main roster call-up. Along with Femi facing Cody Rhodes at the December 13 Saturday Night’s Main Event, there have also been video packages airing on The Ruler on SmackDown and Raw in the past few weeks. According to the latest update, fans now have a clearer indication of what to expect when Femi arrives on the main roster.
Oba Femi Leving NXT – Will He Go To Raw Or SmackDown?
As reported by Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, Femi looks set to be a part of the Raw brand moving forward, with the dominant NXT star expected to be featured near the top of the card immediately. There are also pushes to have Femi featured prominently at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas later in the year.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select adds that the reason why Femi vacated the title was because they did not want to see The Ruler take another loss before being called up to the main roster. If Femi does become part of the Raw brand, he will join Je’Von Evans in the recent NXT call-ups. Trick Williams was also recently introduced as a member of the SmackDown roster.
